It’s National Apprenticeship Week! This week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our own – Elis Matthews, who began his apprenticeship with us in November 2024.
Elis is currently undertaking an electrical apprenticeship, working in the electrical department at our Riverside head office. We caught up with Elis to learn more about his experience and why he loves being part of the Riverside team.
- Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
I chose to do an apprenticeship because I’ve always been interested in electrics. It allows me to gain a qualification while opening up a wide range of career opportunities.
- What is one thing you’ve learned from working at Riverside?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned isn’t just about using the tools – though I’ve gained a lot of skills there – but also about working in different environments, communicating effectively, and adapting my approach when speaking to different people. It’s helped me not just in work, but in life as well.
- What do you enjoy most about doing an apprenticeship?
I enjoy learning new skills and facing challenges where I can really push myself and test my ability. I love a challenge – it’ll help me grow into a confident and competent individual.
We’re proud to support talented individuals like Elis as they take their first steps toward a successful career. Keep up the good work!
