Offering a comprehensive service, including statutory testing, filter replacement, regular maintenance, installation, and repairs, our expert engineers ensure you meet all legal obligations under HSE Guidance (HSG258) and COSHH regulations.
What is LEV Compliance?
LEV compliance is a legal requirement for businesses that generate airborne hazards. It ensures that extraction systems function correctly to protect staff from breathing in harmful substances.
These hazards, including dust, fumes, vapours, mists or gases, can cause severe respiratory illnesses, allergic reactions, and cancer. Some contaminants are also explosive, posing a significant safety risk to your entire facility.
How often does my LEV system need testing?
By law, LEV systems must undergo a Thorough Examination and Test (TExT) at least every 14 months, or more frequently depending on the hazard and risk assessment, in accordance with COSHH Regulation 9.
To remain compliant, LEV testing must be conducted by a competent person, typically a qualified ventilation engineer holding a P601 qualification.
What are the penalties for non-compliance?
LEV testing is about more than just a certificate; it’s about the health and safety of your team. Without a valid TExT report, business owners can be held personally liable and face significant fines from the HSE.
It is important to note the difference between a service and a Thorough Examination and Test:
- A Service – Routine maintenance to keep the system running.
- A TExT – A legal audit of the system’s performance against its original design.
You need both to be fully compliant.
