We caught up with Operations Director, Ian James, to discuss the system upgrade and how we helped the company significantly reduce their energy bills and increase overall efficiency.
What was the challenge?
Like many manufacturing companies, the client utilised a steam-generated calorifier, effectively using steam from their manufacturing equipment to heat their facilities. Although this sounds like an efficient use of energy, it made the factory entirely reliant on production machinery to heat its buildings.
There was also very little control. You cannot simply ‘turn down’ steam from a massive production line, which often leads to an ‘all-or-nothing’ scenario and wasted energy. Steam systems are old technology, where significant heat is lost, so it was time for an upgrade.
How did we fix it?
The client contacted our team for a strategic solution. We recommended replacing the steam-generated calorifiers with a 1,000kW commercial modular natural gas-fired boiler.
By replacing the outdated calorifier with a high-efficiency modular boiler, we provided the client with immediate energy savings and carbon reduction..

The result: Improved efficiency
The upgrade delivered a significant leap in performance. While the old system operated at around 75-80% efficiency, the new modular boiler system is designed to achieve 90-95%, drastically reducing operational costs and carbon footprint.
