Riverside and SWPFC shake hands as they sponsor them at the World Police & Fire Games 2025

Taking place in Birmingham, Alabama, South Wales Police Football Club will represent Wales at the World Police and Fire Games 2025.

Riverside is proud to support the event as one of the team’s main sponsors, with the logo featured on the team’s training shirts throughout the Games.

World Police and Fire Games

Welcoming thousands of law enforcement and fire service professionals from around the world, the Games are an Olympic-style competition with individuals competing across 60 different sports.

Having participated in the WPFG Games for over 30 years, the SWPFC team are proud to honour the 60th anniversary.

On 15th September 1963, the Ku Klux Klan bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church, tragically killing four young girls and injuring many others. In response, a fundraising campaign led by the Western Mail raised money for a replacement stained-glass window in their memory. Designed by Carmarthenshire artist John Petts, the window was gifted to the church on behalf of the people of Wales.

The church’s acceptance letter noted:

“Wales was the only country to offer such direct and material assistance.”

Since 2023, the Welsh Government and the City of Birmingham have continued to show their support, coming together to remember those who lost their lives.

Everyone at Riverside would like to wish South Wales Police Football Club the very best of luck at the Games!
