In a moving tribute to their daughter Mia Jayne John, Trisha and Bradley John have raised an incredible £24,566 for Mia’s Star Tribute Fund. Set up in memory of their daughter, Mia’s Star Tribute Fund runs as part of The Grand Appeal, Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s Hospital.
The donation, made in Mia’s loving memory, reflects the enduring strength of her family and the unwavering support of their local community. Supported by Riverside, the couple’s efforts have not only honoured their daughter’s legacy but also brought vital support to children and families undergoing life-saving care.
Over the last year, their fundraising journey has included a series of heartfelt events. From a sponsored skydive and Tesco awareness campaign, to bake sales and generous contributions from friends, family, and Riverside customers.
Mother of Mia, Trisha John said:
“We are extremely grateful for all the support Riverside has shown us in our fundraising efforts for Bristol Children’s Hospital in memory of our daughter, Mia John. It means so much to our family to be able to support other families who, like us, find themselves needing the incredible care of the PICU ward. This cause is close to our hearts, and through our fundraising, we hope to give back to the doctors and nurses who gave Mia a fighting chance at life. Most of all, we want to honour her memory and build a lasting legacy for our little girl.”
All donations raised will go towards transforming the PICU courtyard. This includes designing reflective and quiet spaces for patients, which will feature fresh artwork, and colourful murals. In addition to comfortable outdoor furniture and flowers to become an oasis of calm.
Thanks to a generous donation from Riverside. A new TV has been installed, offering a sense of normality for patients and families during their stay.

Trisha and Bradley’s story has touched the hearts of many. In the face of unimaginable loss, they have transformed grief into giving, creating a legacy that brings hope to others.
