We are proud to announce that Riverside are sponsoring the Porthcawl Seagulls RFC Under 15s team for their upcoming season. This commitment is part of our continued effort to support local youth development and the community in South Wales.

The decision to back the Under 15s team is driven by a strong personal connection within the Riverside team. Ellis Price, the son of our dedicated Service Coordinator, Keely Price. Ellis has been part of the club since he was nine years old and has progressed his way up, currently playing Full Back (Number 15).

Managing Director, Aimee John said:

“It’s great to be able to support the Porthcawl Seagulls Under 15s. Local rugby clubs are the heart of our community, fostering teamwork, discipline, and healthy activity for young people. Seeing the dedication of players like Ellis, whose journey with the club started when he was just nine, truly highlights the value of grassroots sport. Sponsoring the team is more than just a logo, it’s about investing in the next generation of local talent.”

Porthcawl RFC Under 15s Coach, Robert Price said:

“Thank you so much to Riverside for sponsoring the Under 15s. We are really excited, as the team have all been training hard and are ready to put that effort into action on the pitch as we kick off the new season. Support from local businesses such as Riverside, makes such a difference to grassroots teams and enables the players to look and feel great when they take to the field. We are so grateful to everyone who continues to support the club and help provide opportunities for the community to come together and get involved in grassroots rugby.

Ellis’s Journey

Robert continues:

“Ellis went to watch Porthcawl Seniors play in a cup final at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff aged 9, where Porthcawl won it in dramatic fashion against Pembroke, which sparked his enthusiasm and he wanted to give rugby a go.

As one of the teams I had played for as an adult was Porthcawl and our local community club, I contacted some of the people I knew and Ellis was invited down to training on a wet and wild night. Not put off, he enjoyed it thoroughly and began his rugby journey. Ellis began playing at centre for the club but in the pack for school, just enjoying his time on the field and learning what he could.

At under 12 level, Ellis fell a little out of love with the game and took a two-year break and tried other sports. However, during lunch breaks in school, he began to play again and had the odd school match, doing well, which sparked his enthusiasm once more and just before Christmas in 2024 he asked to return to the team.

Now playing fullback or outside half, he is enjoying playing with his mates once again and representing his local community team and I’m fortunate as most other coaches are to share the journey with him.”

The whole team at Riverside wishes the Porthcawl Seagulls Under 15s a successful and exciting season!
